A Computerized Tomography (CT) scan combines data from several X-rays to produce a detailed image of structures inside the body or any object. It is a medical imaging technique used in radiology to get detailed images of the body noninvasively for diagnostic purposes. CT scans produce 2D images of a section of the body or object, but the data can also be used to construct 3D images. Industrial CT scanning has been used in many areas of industry for the internal inspection of components. Some of the key uses for industrial CT scanning have been flaw detection, failure analysis, metrology, assembly analysis, and reverse engineering applications.CT scan images are used to provide fine-grain details on the condition and allow for the detection of objects as small as human medical device needles. CT scanning found its applications in medical ultrasonography, materials analysis, explosives detection, geological studies, conservation, and preservation of objects of cultural heritage.

With the help of a CT scanner, we can get a CT 3D scan and get the exact internal and external surface geometry at a very high degree of accuracy using 3D inspection software and model the same in reverse engineering software.The scanning process collects millions of XYZ data points in a short amount of time. With the 3D scan data and reverse engineering software, we can create design-intent CAD geometry in an effective manner and edit areas with missing data at the existing area where it is difficult to scan. Data created by 3D scanning is in STL format. We can convert it to file format usable by 3D CAD and deliver according to the customer's requirement.
