Customized hand grips for handguns, steering wheel of an automobile or any handle is most popular among customers for the enhanced look and feel. The hand grip on the steering wheel acts as a protective grip that prevents slippage of the steering wheel when hands are sweated. Besides, it provides the required friction and also imparts a sporty look. Traditionally, custom hand grips are difficult to reconstruct and to add textures to the exterior geometry. With the help of the handheld 3D scanner, the physical flat surface of the steering wheel or any handle of the object is scanned. The 3D scanned data is imported in 3D reverse engineering software like Geomagic Freeform. The software has a feature called Texture capture. We can use multiple textures for the hand grips and align it with the scan data from the texture library. We can customize the texture in handgrips by trial-and-error method. The suitable CAD data is given to the customer in the desirable format.
