Vehicle manufacturers should focus on the auto parts and vehicle interiors which helps them finish the product development faster and stay ahead of their competitors. Traditional manual methods of measurement are too restrictive and do not lead to precise data. Handheld 3D scanners turn out to be a great problem solver in automobile manufacturing. It provides sufficient data acquisition and can accurately scan the curved surface of automobile interiors. Initially, the vehicle's interiors like seat, foot mat are scanned and the 3D scan data is imported in reverse engineering software like Geomagic Design X. Digital alignment is done for the interior auto parts. The design modification, 3D and 2D outline is done for the vehicle and its interior parts in the Geomagic Design X software. The customized changes in the vehicle’s interior are obtained as CAD output and given to the customer in the desirable format.
