Overview

Palm-sized handheld laser 3D scanners are compact, portable devices designed and made in small sizes, almost the size of the palm, to scan intricate details with metrology-grade precision. These scanners use laser technology to capture the geometry of objects with incredible accuracy, making them perfect for detailed scanning of both small and large objects.

What is a Handheld Laser 3D Scanner?

3D scanners that are operated by holding them in hand while scanning medium and large objects are called handheld 3d scanners. Handheld 3d scanners use a laser source to capture the object's shape. This technology is appropriate for onsite 3d scanning and shop floor measurement, especially when the physical object is large and not movable to the CMM measurement lab.

Compared with other light sources, the laser has very good coherence and directionality and is suitable for multi-angle and omnidirectional scanning. The laser's anti-interference ability is stronger than that of other light sources, so it is suitable for scanning in various environments.

How it works?

Laser Emissions

The Scanner emits a laser beam across the object's surface. As the laser hits the object, it reflects back to the Scanner.

Surface Detection

The Scanner uses advanced sensors to detect the reflected laser light and capture the exact contours of the surface. This creates a precise measurement of the object's shape.

Data Processing and mesh generation

The data captured by the Scanner is then processed by specialised 3D scanning software, which creates a highly detailed 3D model of the scanned object. Thee software stitches together the captured data points to form a complete 3D representation of the object, ready for analysis or further design work.

When and Why Do You Need Handheld Laser 3D Scanners?

Handheld Laser 3D Scanners are essential for

Handheld Laser 3D Scanner from Precise3DM

We offer palm-sized and compact, metrology-grade 3D scanners, the FreeScan Combo, featuring hybrid light sources such as laser and infrared. With four distinct modes, it is designed to handle objects ranging from 60 mm to 4 meters in size, providing 20-micron accuracy per meter. This Scanner also includes a targetless option for highly detailed objects, making it versatile for various scanning environments. Awarded the Red Dot for design and innovation, it stands out as one of the top 3D scanning technologies in the market.
